John is a retired College Lecturer and comes from a musical family with several members who were amateur soloists. John joined Warley Male Choir in 1982 and quickly established himself as a member of the bass section. He is a past chairman of the choir and since 2003 has proved to be a very able concert secretary maintaining the reputation of the choir for its’ disciplined approach to staging concerts. His advice is sought by other choirs, particularly if they are organising mass choir events. He has also recently taken over preparing the choirs’ “Harmonics” barbershop group for concerts.
As a member of his local Methodist church John has trained a number of small choirs for special occasions and is also involved with the maintenance and finances of a group of churches. He is also treasurer of a small Christian Charity which lays on Art exhibitions to raise money for CAFOD, and is leader of a church house group.
