John Barber


John studied music at Wolverhampton University and then continued with Post Graduate level music and piano teaching.  Over the past 10 years John has developed as an accomplished composer and arranger.  He runs his own private teaching pracce and also teaches piano at High Clare School in Sutton Coldfield.


John has been a member of the City of Birmingham Choir for 16 years and often conducts its splinter group called 'Voices from the CBC'.  As well as being accompanist and deputy conductor of the Warley Male Choir, he also enjoys conducting his own choir 'Enchant' who have premiered many of his choral works and have recorded some on their debut album.  Recently, the City of Birmingham Choir commissioned John to write a large work for jazz quartet and three choirs which will premiere in Symphony Hall in May 2015.
