CHOIR ACCOMPANIST AND DEPUTY CONDUCTOR John Barber BA(Music), Dip ABRSM, CT ABRSM.

John has been playing the piano for over 17 years. Having studied Music at Wolverhampton University, John then trained and qualified as a piano teacher. He also studied Musical Education and trained to be a Music teacher in schools.
A keen choral singer, John has been a bass in the City of Birmingham Choir for over seven years. His interest and support for the choir has grown over time and he is now on the Board of Management. Throught such choirs as the Pheonix Singers and Selly Park Choral Society, John has become an experienced choral conductor.
From the age of 14, John has been a keen composer. He has won many competitions for his vocal works and has had his music premiered at the Birmingham Town Hall and Birmingham's Symphony Hall.
During the last few years, John has studied Jazz and Popular music and has formed his own Jazz and Pop quartets, through which he has raised thousands of pounds for charities.
John now runs his own private teaching practice, as well as teaching in schools. He continues to enjoy accompanying and performing and in future hopes to do more work recording and arranging.
