Brian Randle
Vice-Chairman
Brian has been a past Chairman of the choir and was secretary of the choir for fifteen years, becoming Vice–Chairman in 2005.
He joined the choir in 1983 and remembers that on his first night after singing a few scales and about half of “Drink to me only with thine eyes” as an audition, Bill Jones, the then Musical Director, said go and sit with the first tenors. He wondered as the evening went on why his eyes were watering, and was told that this was not unusual for first tenors because of the high notes. It was also suggested that he purchase some tight underwear as this would be a great help.
Brian is of the opinion that whatever duties he has carried out for the choir over the years they do not in any way repay the pleasure and friendship that he has received in return. His wife Alice gives him great support and she is also a member of the Ladies Group. Brian is a member of the choir’s “Harmonics” barbershop group, and the choir’s representative at E.A.M.V.C (English Association of Male Voice Choirs) meetings.
